Paloma

I fell in love with whisky highballs when visiting Japan, to the point of ordering crates directly from a warehouse so that the most authentic taste was maintained as possible.

This is not a whisky highball, but a simple tequila and grapefruit highball: bright, salty and sharp, with the grapefruit soda doing most of the heavy lifting.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml tequila

  • 20 ml fresh lime juice

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • Pink grapefruit soda or Squirt soda, to top

  • Grapefruit slice, to garnish

  • Extra salt, for the rim

Directions

  • Fill a highball glass with ice, add the tequila and top up with grapefruit soda.

  • Finish with lime juice, garnish with the grapefruit slice and rim with salt.
